DEMO REEL

These are some of the scenes I've done for Disney and Warner Bros. Also included is a scene for a German show titled The 3 Robbers. I have to admit, the 3 Robbers scene seems out of place because the animation style is different from the 'Disney" style, but I included it to show my versatility as an Animator. It's just one scene anyway, so i hope this doesn't affect how you guys view my demo reel. Otherwise, enjoy and please comment if you can.

Dennis and Gnasher part 2

Well, looks like there's still time to upload another scene I did for Dennis and Gnasher. This scene actually follows the first post i did, although it will look like this is the first judging from the sequencing of posts from this blog, but hey, no worries.

Dennis and Gnasher

This is probably the first time I've uploaded an Animation scene that's in color. Anyway, this is for a show titled Dennis and Gnasher for an Australian studio. I'm proud to say that the directors from Australia specifically said they liked this scene because it gave the character (Dennis) acting nuances and depth. For a 'Saturday morning' cartoon, that's a big deal, because when we do these types of shows, we usually do 'generic' type of animation because of the tight schedule to get them out of production asap. I guess my experience in doing Feature quality animation proved to be useful. I'll be posting another scene like this one later.

My Test Scene for " Badly Drawn Roy"

I had fun doing this test animation scene for a show called 'Badly Drawn Roy', from Ireland I think. You can see what this show is all about on Youtube. Just type in 'badly drawn roy' and press search.

This is a 15 foot test scene for that show and it took me 3 days to finish everything, from rough animation until rough inbetweens.

My 'short-lived' attempt at doing comics!

I was just cleaning my library at home last Saturday, when i stumbled upon these comic book panels i did back in 2003! These are actually just 'test panels' for Glasshouse Graphics here in the Philippines. They give out test scripts for aspiring comic book artists in the country. Back in 2003, I felt burned out from being an Animator, so i gave comic book illustration a shot. As a disclaimer (hehe), this is the first (and so far, my only) attempt at doing comic book illustrations, so it looks so raw and a bit all over the place layout-wise, but believe it or not, the head honcho of Glasshouse Graphics actually saw potential in me that he gave me a follow up script after this! It would've been fun to do the next script because the character was Batman! And anyone who knows me, knows that i'm a big fan of the Dark Knight! So why didn't I do it? Economics! I have to earn money, and these 'test comics' unfortunately are done for free! So i had to go back and do what i really do for a living --- animate.
But for this one glorious moment, i had fun with what i was doing, which was exactly what i needed in a long time.

Sunset Girl

Sorry for the cheezy title, it's late and i'm out of ideas. Yet another round of Photoshop exploration. I originally did this artwork for FHM Magazine, Philippines, but the one that came out wasn't colored by me. It was colored by my good friend, and superb Background Artist from TopDraw Animation company, Philippines, Ms. Edna Vitug.
I just thought of coloring my original inks myself this time, just to see if i could do justice to the illustration. You be the judge....as for me, i'm having fun!

My Triton

I'd like to think that i'm getting better at using Photoshop CS3 after i did this version of Triton from Little Mermaid. I'm slowly getting the hang of it that's for sure. I'm gonna do another one and it's gonna be totally different than my past treatments. I'm having fun with this software, so i'll keep on making up different stuff and techniques until i find my comfort zone.

Til next post....

"My Ariel"

This will be known as my Official 2nd attempt at using Photoshop CS3. I know i have a long way to go, but i'm finally getting the hang of the different usage of brushes, textures, opacity, etc. And what can be more fun than making my own version of Ariel from The Little Mermaid!

More to come...promise!

Photoshop CS3...my new toy

It's been awhile since i made an entry...been so busy lately! Anyway, i decided to post my VERY FIRST artwork I did using Photoshop CS3....I know it's no big deal for others, but to me, i'm just enjoying the thrill of using a different tool other than pencil and paper. I know I have a lot to learn, so hopefully, I improve well enough to see a difference from this entry to the next! The journey has just begun for me!

Ariel chewed out by Triton

This scene gave me fits because I had to animate Triton AND Ariel, so basically it took a lot more time to do, plus the fact that my Aussie director made me fix this scene about three times to get it right (in his eyes at least, hehe). Well, at least I managed to turn a good scene in the end, and at the end of the day, that's the bottom line. But I also can't help but wonder if the actual audience (the kids) would care whether or not Triton's hair flowed smoothly, or Ariel's fins flap consistently.....hmmm, I know when I was a kid, I never cared about technical things like 'overlap', 'follow-thru', 'slow-in' and 'slow-out'. All I cared about was the 'coolness' of the characters like The Superfriends, Voltes V, Mazinger Z and the lot. Ironically, I didn't like Disney cartoons when I was a kid. I found them too 'mushy' and boring! Give me Bugs Bunny, Coyote and Roadrunner, Daffy Duck, essentially all the Warner cartoons and my day is done! I also found a new love for Tex Avery cartoons! i have a collection of sorts of his works, and they're amazing! I hope I could work on a similar type of show doing Tex Avery stuff, that'll be fun. It's what the animation medium is made for in my opinion. Anyway, till next time....

Princess Aurora

another scene of Princess Aurora fromThe Princess Stories for Disneytoon.

King Triton

This is a touching scene wherein King Triton wants to say good night to Ariel but Ariel just gives him the cold shoulder. Triton had no choice but to leave her room dejected. This is one of my favorite scenes that I animated for The Little Mermaid 3: Ariel's Beginning , coming out on DVD this August 26, 2008 ( i think.....hehe)

Princess Stories featuring Jasmine

This is the only "Jasmine" scene I did for Princess Stories. The rest were Iago scenes.

Animation Linetests For PRINCESS STORIES

This is a scene I made for Princess Stories, featuring Princess Aurora for Disneytoon, USA. It's fun to animate, but the modelling was tough.

the duke

This is a scene of the 'Duke' character in the Princess Stories ' Sleeping Beauty episode. The context of this scene is that giant chickens are found inside the castle and he's telling the King about it.

NUDE FEMALE Quick Sketches

These are some of the quick sketch exercises that we usually do at the office to keep us 'in shape' for our animation requirements. Each sketch takes about 30 seconds only, so we just have to get the 'essence' of each pose. This exercise isn't really about getting the face of the model right, but to see how the body moves, tilts, curves. etc in any given pose. Needless to say, we all had fun! ;-)

'Flounder" Animation

This is the only 'Flounder' scene I ever did for the DVD feature film, The Little Mermaid 3 for Disneytoons. It's such a short scene but it took me 5 tries before it got approved by my Australian director! But it was fun doing this scene, so no regrets!

DOG Sketches

These are some quick sketches I did in preparation for doing The Fox and The Hound 2 for Disneytoon. We studied how dogs walk and how their muscles work in movement, etc. I had a lot of fun doing these rough sketches that took about 30 seconds to draw each dog. Maybe that's why it's called 'quick sketch'.....Just kidding!

The Three Robbers

This is the only scene I did for the show titled The Three Robbers for a German studio around December 2006. I did this at home while I was on my Christmas vacation, so it took me around a week to finish this because I just did a couple of drawings every two hours I think. I mean, c'mon, it's Christmas season! Who ever works during this season right? Another thing is, I had a difficult time adding the mouthshapes because I don't know how to speak German. But somehow I pulled it off....So, enjoy! ;-)

The "BIG" little boy, Zachary!

Disney Princess Interstitial part 2

Hello!!! Here's the next scene I did from Disney Princess Interstitial, like I did yesterday! It hooks up from the last scene I posted yesterday! Enjoy!!! ;-)

Princess Stories unused Interstitial scene for Disney TV

Hi Everyone!
Here's a sample animation scene that I did for Disney's Princess Stories for Disneytoon, USA.
Everything's cool because they never used these scenes because they don't have time to include these Interstitial scenes in the finished show. So basically, this the only place you'll get to see this scene. I'll post more of my works next time! Til then....
